Y3 : Ask and answer questions

Today we practised asking and answering questions. Our detectives had to ask questions and find the hidden items in the classroom (a potato, a tomato and a chocolate).

We had a look at our Spanish sentences in our books and made sure we used capital letters and full stops.

We finished the lesson by singing the numbers song.

Y4: Monsters: descriptions

We finished our monster sentences and sang the Chuchua song.

Y5: postcards

Today we were busy writing postcards!

We sang our song, it was a brilliant performance!

Y6: role plays and numbers

Today everybody had the chance to present the restaurant role plays, well done Year 6, good Spanish and fantastic acting!

We talked about paellas and had a look at a special spice: saffron! It gives the rice the right colour and makes it taste delicious. It is very expensive, so don't take it home please, just look at it by the Spanish display:-)

We looked at some euro coins again, Nicole brought these in to show us. Remember you can leave a comment if you have found out who is on a Spanish euro coin! You will get a price:-)

We sang our "cutlery song".

We finished the lesson with Chuchua from last year, this was Katy's special wish as it is her birthday today. Great singing!

Y6- restaurant role plays and penpals

Today we had a very busy lesson. First we practised numbers up to 100 with our silly song. I can't upload it here, but it is on the class computer if you want to sing it!
Then we played "Splat" with real euros and we practised the question ¿Cuánto cuesta?.
We presented our role plays and had a laugh when some pupils asked for a lemon sandwich, a tomato sandwich and a chocolate sandwich:-)

We made a Harvest bunting for our Spanish penpals, we decorated leaf people and introduced ourselves in Spanish next to them. We will finish our sentences next week. They look fantastic!

Y5- PREPOSITIONS!!! and Columbus Day

Today we have decided to spend time practising our travel sentences. We played "Pass the Parcel", and whenever the DJ stopped the music, we had to make sentences with two cards: a day one and a flag one. There are real flag experts in Year 5, so we had no problems recognising Argentina, Mexico, Paraguay ad Ecuador.

El jueves voy a Ecuador.
El sábado voy a Argentina.
El domingo voy a Paraguay.
El viernes voy a México.

We sang our song "Este puente...", it is becoming very popular:-)

We talked about Columbus Day, and watched a video about the history of the Spanish language.

Spanish is a Romance language, it comes from Latin.

We looked at the map of his first trip, if you want to see it again, click here.

Next week we will write postcards, hope you will enjoy looking through the leaflets, postcards and travel magazines I left by the Spanish display!

Y4 - No tiene....

Today we have practised our monster describing sentences:
NO: we need no for negative sentences, it always comes before the verb in Spanish.
S: we need to use s when we talk about more than one thing, just like in English!
Y: we need the connective "y" to join parts of the sentence together. It means and.

We have almost finished our monsters in our Spanish books, next week we can present them in front of the class!

Hope you have found your stickers I left during lunch time:-)

Don't forget to practise a bit of Spanish every day.

Y3 - Vivo en Burscough

Today we had a short lesson, but a lot happened!
We have learnt to say where we live.

Vivo en Burscough.Vivo en Southport.
Vivo en Rufford.

Now we can say 3 sentences about ourselves:
Me llamo George.
Tengo 7 años.
Vivo en Burscough.
And many of us said these three sentences for a sticker.
Very impressive! Well done!

We have written Vivo en Burscough in our Spanish books, and found out that a v is actually pronounced as a b in Spanish!

Don't forget to practise a bit of Spanish every day:-)

Y6 - in a restaurant

Today we have learnt how to order food in a Spanish restaurant.  First, we made sure we had very quick waiters and waitresses, who had to race to our hungry Valentín puppet.
He kept asking for food:

Quiero un bocadillo de jamón, por favor.

Quiero un bocadillo de queso, por favor.

Quiero un bocadillo de pollo, por favor.

Because we have to pay for our food, we practised our Spanish numbers by singing a silly song where we had to shout out the numbers 10, 20, 30, etc.

We had a look at our postcards, they were sent by schools from all over Europe in our postcard exchange project.

We practised the restaurant role plays, and watched one group present theirs, they did really well!

Y5- a new preposition: el

Today we learnt to add the day of the week to our travel sentences, and now we know that we need the preposition EL. We remembered the names of some Spanish speaking countries and created sentences:

El martes voy a Argentina.
El jueves voy a Colombia.
El miércoles voy a Uruguay.
We are finishing our postcards, next week we will have to write them!

We have received many cards from European primary schools in our postcard exchange project, look:

We sang our song: Este puente va a caer.

Here are the words:

Este puente va caer, va a caer, va a caer,
Este puente va a caer, ya ha caído,
Cómo vamos a cruzar, a cruzar, a cruzar,
Cómo vamos a cruzar este río.
En barquitos de papel, de papel de papel
En barquitos de papel, lo cruzamos.

This bridge is going to fall down, fall down, fall down,
This bridge is going to fall down, it has fallen down,
How will we cross, cross, cross,
How will we cross this river,
In paper boats, paper boats, paper boats,
In paperpoats we will cross it.

Y3 - How are you?

Today we have learnt to say how we feel:
Bien = Well
Mal = Bad

How are you? is ¿Qué tal? in Spanish.

We made some mini movies with the clapper board and the ToonCamera iPad app. We all looked like cartoons!

We wrote two sentences about ourselves in our Spanish books and started to draw a picture of ourselves. It was exciting to write in Spanish for the very first time and practise a special letter, the ñ.

Me llamo George.
Tengo 7 años.

We finished the lesson with a short video to our Spanish pen pals. Hopefully we will find some soon!

Y4 - A connective: "y"

Today we learnt that we can join the body parts in one sentence with y! It means and, and it links parts of the sentence together when we describe our monsters.

We played the blindfolded artist, girls against boys, and Mrs Sawyer had to decide whose monster looked the scariest. Congratulations, chicas:-)!

We started to describe our monsters in our Spanish books, using the connective"y".

We recorded a short video to our eTwinning partners in Valladolid, they will be happy to hear from us!

And just after the end of the lesson, we sang Happy Birthday to the birthday girl. I hope her ear is not hurting too much:-)
